my front cover of my magazine has completely changed, my college magazine looks very unprofessional how Ive just placed pictures and text anywhere, which looks like I haven't thought about the layout at all where as on my music magazine Ive used guidelines to line text and pictures up which looks a lot better. My college magazine looks very plain compared with my music magazine as there's hardly any text or any detail that stands out on it.Looking at the picture quality on my music magazine the photograph is very clear, good lighting and good use of the SLR camera on the other hand my college magazine has a very blurry photograph and also when I've cut around the image it isn't very neat.

My college magazine contents page looks very quality compared to my music magazine I think this is because when I did my music magazine Ive gained more experience with working on photoshop, learning how to use the tools better  and also using the SLR cameras better.
my contents page is once again very plain and boring and quite a lot of empty space. The layout of my music magazine looks much more professional and neat compared to my college magazine and also  like the cover the photographs for the college magazine are very poor quality.



overall my progress from my college magazine to the music magazine has improved a lot, you can see with my music magazine that I'm a lot better using the technology's and think more about what im going to do especially on things like the layout.

Evaluation - Question 6

 I used Photoshop for my cover, contents page and double page spread.It was really easy to use and I could use it for everything I needed to create my music magazine.

I used the SLR camera to take my photographs for all my magazine pictures this made my photos clear and good quality.

I used blogger to show me making my magazine, I kept my blogger updated so it showed what I'd done step by step.

I used prezi at the very start of my magazine to introduce the name, the price, publication line, where my magazine would be distributed, I also used prezi for a question in my evaluation.

I used flickr in my evalaution to annotate jpegs of my magazine.

who would be the audience for your media product and why?

My target audience would be teenagers to early twenty's, I think this because the type of music RnB is its aimed at a younger generation. my magazine is aimed at both male and female but I would say more Males would purchase it as its more stereotypical.

I have said my target audience would shop at places like Topshop, Topman, River island which are  all high street shops where they sell fashionable clothing. I have also said my target audience would watch programmes like Geordie shore ,Celebrity juice and only way is Essex these are all programmes aimed at my target audience.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

 

POSTURE: My models posture in comparison with the image of Kelly Rowland is quite similar as both models have there  hands on there hips to give some attitude, I haven't made my model face straight on as tilting her head and standing a little bit to the side gives more of a RnB feel and a edge to it.

GESTURE:The face gestures on each of the models are very similar apart from my model has a little bit of a smile on hers just to make a little bit different from vibe.

ANGLE:The angle of the camera is straight on to show my model is confident and showing attitude towards the camera. Having a straight view shows off the models pose very well just like the image of  Kelly Rowland.

SHOT TYPE:  Ive used a mid long shot, so it mainly focuses on the models face to show off the hair and make up but also giving a small look into what the model is wearing this is something vibe have done.

COSTUME: Both models are wearing the colour white which is a nice light colour so isn't dull and boring to look at but my model also has a pattern on her top which makes the outfit a little bit more interesting.

LIGHTING: both are photographs are done in high key lighting so the models can be noticed easily also the backgrounds are both plain so the focus is on the models not the background which I think Is important.

EXPRESSION: I wanted a similar expression on my model that was on Kelly Rowland  which i did but i also got my model to smile a little which i think gives a bit more of a edge.

HAIR: I've tried to do quite a similar hair style to Kelly Rowland as i did quite a curly look with shorter hair but i didn't have a fringe as i wanted to show my models make up off.

MAKE UP: I've done quite similar make up with my model by doing dark eyes and a flawless look just like Kelly Rowland but my model has red lips which i think add to the RnB look.

Front cover
The title font I've used is taken from the music magazine vibe . The font is bold , the biggest font size on the page, in capital letters and stands out on the page. I think the title helps identify the genre of the music magazine.

I've used a banner at the top of my music magazine which is lay out the same as the music magazine vibe. I think having a tag line is good because people can instantly look at it and know its beat magazine because it'll become memorable to readers.

When i took the picture for my cover I wanted my model to pose similar to the artist on vibe magazine and also have the same plain background, which i think i did. also when I  was positioning my model on the cover I made her the main feature  by making her a larger size and over laping the tile.

The text on my front cover is bold and a font that stands out which is very similar to the text on the music magazine vibe. I think the text looks better bold because it makes the story's more eye catching.

   Contents page
Like the magazine vibe I've used a letter in the background that takes up most of the page. The letter is faded and all text and pictures over lap it. I think having this letter fills up space and makes sure my contents page does't look plain. also I think keeping something this similar, helps give a RnB genre.

My title is layout in the exact same way as vibe, as the letters go underneath each other rather than next to each other also it is placed in the top right hand corner which is the same position as vibe magazines contents page.

On my contents page i have a main picture which is one of the main features on the page, this is another thing Ive done similar to vibe. I think having a picture as a main feature makes the page stand out more and because of the clothing Ive used, it keeps up the genre.

I've put my writing in a column and aligned it to one side of the page this is the the same layout as vibe . I think this makes my contents page look very professional and easy to read.

Double page spread
The writing is all put in columns which looks very neat , this is what vibe has done with there double page spread. I think this makes it look more professional.

Vibe have also used a main picture which takes up most of the page and stands out,also the picture was on one side of the page, I did the same on my music magazine.

On the vibe magazine the title USA is quite big and is behind the picture and text, I have done my title exactly the same as I think it makes it stand out and look good.

Develop

Front cover
I've developed my music magazine to make it look different from the magazine vibe. 

my masthead is pretty much the same as vibe but I've developed it by making it gradual go dark to light, I think it makes my title look alot better than vibe magazine.

In the vibe magazine the text is placed either side of image where as on my magazine Ive put all the text on the left hand side of my model, I think this makes it look a better layout.

on the vibe magazine they have there bar code on the right hand bottom corner where as I have put it in on the far right hand side at the top, I think for my layout it looks better there.

Contents page

The image on vibe contents page is a male where as Ive used a female, I think having a female give a more RnB look as a female can pose more than a male also a female can have different hairstyles and make up to make my contents page look a lot better.

My subheadings are different than vibe I've used regulars,features and extras where as vibe used only 2 features and fashion another thing i did different from vibe was position it on the far left,I think this fits better with the page layout.

The title contents is set out in the same way but Ive changed the size and font to make it fit better with my page it also looks more bold which makes it stand out more

Double page spread

vibe have used a long shot for there main picture where as Ive used a medium close up i did this to show off the models and hair and makeup more bcuase i think it gives a more RnB look.

The title is very similar to vibe magazines title but vibe's is quite a dull colour and looks a bit faded where as mine is a colour that stands out and is bold. 

Challenge

Cover
On vibe magazine they've done a banner across the top listing artists inside but on my magazine Ive used a publication line "without music, life would be an error" using a publication line is good because if somebody see's that line they'll associate it with my music magazine.

Contents page
on my music magazine Ive inserted a mini screen shot of my cover page next to the title on my contents page, vibe magazine hasn't done this so this is something that makes my magazine look different. I think having this mini screen shot links my cover and contents page together

I've used two images on my contents page whereas vibe have only used one I think this makes my contents page look a little more interesting to look at.

My final thing I think Ive made different is add lines under my headings think this makes my headings stand out and easier to find because it doesn't blend in with the rest of the writing.

Double page spread
Unlike vibe magazine's double page spread I've used a background on my picture I think this stops my page from looking really plain and from having any white spaces. this makes it look a lot more professional.

On top of my model Ive picked out a quote from the interview and made it bolder and bigger so it stands out, vibe magazine haven't done this so I think It makes my double page spread look different.
